LocomotiveIf you’d like to see what kids used to play with, the Stockholm Toy Museum is the place to go. Thousands of antique playthings are on display. At the heart of the toy museum you’ll find a couple of model train layouts that visitors can take turns running, a play room for younger children, video games for older brothers and sisters and pinball machines that should help most parents remember happy childhood days.

foker.jpgThe Toy Museum recently moved from its home of more than 20 years on Mariatorget to a new location near the Stockholm Streetcar Museum and now has much more room. This museum is a paradise for anyone interested in tin soldiers or music boxes. A small stage at the Toy Museum is used regularly by a number of independent children’s theater groups—Teater Bambino has its permanent stage there—a minicircus, multilingual puppeteers and magicians who specialize in performing for youngsters. Call for dates and times of performances.
