kungsholmens-glassfabrik.jpgIf you’ve been swimming at Rålambshovsparken and think that some ice cream would be the perfect way to round off the afternoon, then take a walk to Kungsholmens Glassfabrik. Although “Glassfabrik” means “ice cream factory” it’s really more of an ice cream café. Think “home made” not “industrially manufactured”.

Known for almost 100 years as “Pipersglace”, this is the oldest ice cream parlor in Stockholm. On any given day they serve over 30 different flavors here, selected, they say, from over one hundred different recipes. A family operated shop, Kungsholmens Glassfabrik simply has the best ice cream in town. My favorite among all the different recipes and toppings?

Plain chocolate!

Despite the cold Scandinavian winters,
Swedes eat more ice cream per person every year than any other Europeans.
